movie/tv related trivia

"Singing sensation Charlotte Church has landed her first film role - loosely based on actress Liv Tyler's teenage life.
The Welsh diva, 16, will star in a comedy musical The Family Business, where a musically talented girl discovers her real father is a has-been eighties pop star.
Comedian Craig Ferguson who will play Church's father in the movie, says he wrote it with the Voice of an Angel songstress in mind.
The plot is said to be loosely based on the real-life story of the stunning Lord of the Rings star - who discovered her father was Aerosmith frontman Steve Tyler, after being brought up to believe it was rocker Todd Rungren."

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...........i don't think this can be as "good" as mandy (ass)moore's trip to movieland in "a walk to remember."

"Buffy Faces Axe
Press Association
TV bosses plan to kill off cult show Buffy the Vampire Slayer following lacklustre ratings.
American station CBS says the long-running series, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, is not expected to return for an eighth run.
"I wouldn't bet that it comes back," network chief Leslie Moonves told the Hollywood Reporter.
Gellar, who is married to her Scooby-Doo co-star Freddie Prinze Jr, is said to want to concentrate on her film career.
But Mr Moonves said the 25-year-old actress still "hasn't said no" to reprising her role as the vampire killer.
There may also be a spin-off series featuring some of the other Buffy characters, he said."

another spin off? holy shit don't do this to us, joss whedon you two-timing bastard. and kill off dawn! argh!

"Angel Star Pregnant
World Entertainment News Network
Charisma Carpenter is to have a baby - and her on-screen character will follow suit.
The Angel actress is due to give birth in March, though she kept the secret - and her shot gun wedding to Damien Hardy - from television bosses. Now they have been forced to re-write the script, incorporating a naughty night of nookie for Cordelia with Angel's teenage son Connor.
She says, "I am due to film on through March but I don't know if I will be able to... my waters might break on set! So far they have been camouflaging my condition by putting me in long coats."

you've got to be shitting me. that's the reason for the shit they pulled last episode? these people. dude, they are fucking with my will to continue watching.

1. CBS has nothing to do with Buffy so why are they saying it's not going to come back.

2. I KNEW that whole Cordelia/Conor thing was wrong. Damn actors screwing with the plots.

1. maybe CBS owns wherever buffy is now? what channel is she on now? upn. maybe upn is owned by cbs?

2. there was still the potential it might come back. and there is still the potential for it coming back sans buffy.

so but...a buffy free buffy. on the one hand, yay! i'm not so crazy about her. but still, she does provide that vital focus and center point...and there's the whole neat chosen one thing...

sigh. watching the first and second seasons made me realize how much cooler it was when everything was a metaphor for real life...kids could say hey, MY mom doesn't understand me either! and my principle and teachers are totally demonic too! and every time i get a crush on someone they totally turn into monsters! it made better sense when it was based more obviously on that stuff I think.

wait, so...are they thinking of making one of the student slayers into the slayer for next season? b/c i think having willow dating the slayer would be wicked keen...

Posted by: didofoot on January 14, 2003 03:38 PM

well before they were making noises about dawn being the next slayer. so i dunno what's up with all these new slayerettes. but damn right willow and that one had better be sleeping together damn soon.

have you noticed though that really none of them will become the slayer if buffy dies? because a new one wasn't made after the last time she died. because she already has the one chosen after her=faith. and so even if she dies, it's not till faith dies that another new one will come. which possibly the makers have forgotten. stupid makers. or maybe they haven't forgotten and faith is going to come and guest star! that would be good.

UPN and CBS are both owned by Viacom, along with MTV, VH-1, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, Showtime, BET, Simon and Schuster Publishing, Great America, Raging Waters, KCBS-AM, KFRC-AM, KITS-FM, KYCY-FM/AM, KLLC-FM, King World Enterprises (TV syndication) and Westwood One (radio syndication).

The FCC changed their "dual-network" rule in 2001, allowing corproations to own more than one network. but the roots of all of this media-consolidation came from the Telecommunications Act in 1996. The rules get reviewed every two years. Since the Bush administration seems less worried about things like one company owning a television station and a newspaper in the samer town, expect more loosening of the rules.

As far as I know, CBS and UPN are run independently of one another, at least nominally.

i think faith will come back, b/c they mentioned her in the last episode for no good reason. which means i bet she will.

here is my buffy death theory: she didn't actually die. she was just flung into another dimension which was nice and calm and heavenlike. but not actually heaven. which is why no new slayer was born, and why they could bring her back.

on the other hand, if faith comes back then they can kill her off. so maybe my theory is wrong. but they better have SOME explanation of why a new slayer didn't show up. dammit.
